How this estimate works

Total landed cash cost = goods + international freight + insurance + brokerage + port fees + local delivery + other charges + duty + import tax. Cost per item = total ÷ item quantity. A percentage charge = your chosen base × your entered rate ÷ 100. Bases are only used to calculate charges and are not added again.

Tax recoverability is not assessed: all tax entered is included in the cash budget. This is a single-shipment, single-currency, two-decimal planning model. It does not model product-specific duties, quantity-based tariffs, quotas, trade remedies, de minimis eligibility, currency conversion or tax relief.

Customs valuation rules differ by destination. For example, U.S. CBP distinguishes goods value from international freight and insurance. Do not automatically treat every shipping charge as part of a customs duty base. Confirm the correct base and rates with your broker or customs authority.

How to use the calculator

  1. Choose one currency and convert all costs into it before entering them.
  2. Enter the total shipment goods value and item quantity.
  3. Add freight, insurance, clearance, port and local delivery charges once each.
  4. Enter known duty and tax amounts, or use a verified rate and specify the correct assessment base.
  5. Compare scenarios, download the breakdown as CSV or print your estimate.

All entered taxes are included in the cash budget, whether or not your business may later recover them. The results exclude any costs you have not entered. Check classification, origin, current rates and exemptions independently.
